Flow cytometry is a high throughput quantitative analysis tool that employs fluorescent-labeled molecules for multi-parametric analysis of millions of individual cells or particles. Flow cytometric analysis provides data about the size and granularity and can also be used for the isolation of a particular cell type from a heterogeneous mix of cell populations. In biomedical sciences, the flow cytometry assays involve a careful selection of antibodies and fluorochrome labels and often require optimization of protocols for an accurate analysis of sample-specific target antigens.
