Additional Product Information
Taq Polymerase is a heat-stable enzyme originally identified in Thermus aquaticus that is used in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a technique often utilized in modern molecular biology. When combined with appropriate concentrations of dNTPs and template DNA, the enzyme is capable of polymerizing de novo strands of DNA at relatively high temperature. The enzyme does have some baseline activity at lower temperatures, leading to inappropriately short contaminant DNA. This can be remedied by adding an antibody against Taq, which inhibits its activity. The antibody’s binding activity is lost at the optimal temperature for Taq activity.
